Cyclists riding up Passo Pordoi surrounded by the dramatic Dolomites peaks

Ride. Toast.
Smile. Repeat.

From rolling hills draped in vineyards to soaring alpine peaks, this ride is all about contrasts.
In six unforgettable days you’ll spin through the sun-drenched Prosecco Hills, climb quiet roads steeped in WWI history like Monte Grappa and San Boldo Pass, and push higher into the pristine Dolomites to tackle giants like Giau, Fedaia, and Pordoi.

The changing terrain is mirrored by changing scenery: the charming hamlets of Veneto give way to alpine villages where Ladin traditions and Austrian influences shape local life and architecture. Along the way, taste the region’s rich variety: crisp Prosecco, hearty mountain wines, and dishes that celebrate the best of northern Italy.

The Sella Ronda

A SPECIAL MOMENT

Many of our guests describe the Sella Ronda as the most beautiful ride of their life and honestly, we get it.
This iconic loop around the Sella Massif connects four mountain passes: Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella and Gardena, wrapping you in nonstop panoramic beauty.
The bonus magic? We always suggest riding it at sunrise because the great rides deserve the best light, quiet roads and that first espresso stop while the mountains are still waking up.

Day by day

DAY 1

Prosecco Hills
Panoramic view of the vineyards in the Prosecco Hills near Valdobbiadene

Welcome to Veneto! Your first glimpse: endless terraced vineyards shaped by centuries of winemaking tradition.Your first ride: a breathtaking mix of rolling hills, punchy climbs, and charming villages.
And this is just the beginning; get ready for an unforgettable journey.

• DISTANCE: 50 km (30 mi)
• ELEVATION: 700 m (2400 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
While most Prosecco is mass-produced in the plains, only the hillside vineyards of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene earn the DOCG label, the highest Italian wine classification. These steep, hand-tended terraces produce the finest bubbles and have been protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2019.

DAY 2

A Shot of Grappa
Cyclist reaching the summit of Monte Grappa with the Italian flag in view

The day begins with an inspiring visit to the Gypsotheca Antonio Canova, a beautiful museum showcasing masterpieces by Italy’s greatest neoclassical sculptor. Then it’s time to saddle up and tackle the mighty Monte Grappa, an iconic climb often featured in the Giro d’Italia.
At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views and a moving visit to the Sacrario Militare, the monumental WWI ossuary that honors over 20,000 fallen soldiers.
A winding descent brings us back to Valdobbiadene, where we’ll toast the day with a cold, well-earned beer.

• DISTANCE: 80 km (50 mi)
• ELEVATION: 2100 m (6800 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
Atop Monte Grappa stands a monumental ossuary, holding the remains of over 20,000 soldiers, Italian and Austro-Hungarian alike. This WWI memorial is a place of silence, remembrance, and deep perspective.

DAY 3

San Boldo Pass
Cyclist riding through the tunnels and switchbacks of San Boldo Pass

Today’s climb, Passo San Boldo, is famously known as “the Hundred Days Road.” Built in just 100 days during World War I by the Austro-Hungarians, it’s an engineering masterpiece with dramatic hairpin tunnels carved into sheer rock.
After the ride we’ll trade stories over a visit to a family-run Prosecco winery, then settle in for another feast at the dinner table. Bubbles, good company, and tired legs… cheers to that!

• DISTANCE: 50 km (30 mi)
• ELEVATION: 1000 m (3300 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
Passo San Boldo has appeared twice in the Giro d’Italia: first in 1966 and more recently in 2019. A short climb packed with drama and history, just like the race itself.

DAY 4

Welcome to the Dolomites
Cyclists riding along Lake Fedaia with the Marmolada in the background

Fedaia. Pordoi. Campolongo. After a short transfer to Alleghe, the Dolomites greet you with three legends stacked one after the other sending a clear message: flat roads are officially over.
The good news? You’re riding through one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes on Earth, and every switchback will leave you in awe.
The other good news? Our sag vehicle is never far, always ready to boost your ride with a bar, a hot coffee, or just a friendly cheer.

• DISTANCE: 65 km (40 mi)
• ELEVATION: 2200 m (6700 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
The Dolomites are home to the original vie ferrate: iron paths built during WWI to help soldiers move across cliffs and ridges. Today, they attract tourists from around the world.

DAY 5

The Sella Ronda
Group picnic on Passo Campolongo during the Sella Ronda loop

Get ready for one of the most memorable rides of your life: the breathtaking Sellaronda.

• DISTANCE: 50 km (30 mi)
• ELEVATION: 1600 m (5200 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
In this part of the Dolomites, expect to hear three languages: Italian, of course, German, echoing the region’s Austrian past and Ladin, a fascinating ancient language. Ladin culture runs deep here, shaping everything from the architecture to the flavors on your plate.

DAY 6

Giau and Falzarego
Cyclist descending from Passo Giau surrounded by Dolomites peaks

Time to close the week in style and with a bang. First up: Passo Giau, considered by many the toughest climb in the region, with its relentless gradients and epic alpine scenery. And just when you think the legs have given it all… one final beauty awaits: Passo Falzarego, a majestic ascent framed by the towering Cinque Torri. After two legendary climbs and a week of unforgettable riding, there’s only one thing left to do:raise a glass and say cheers; you’ve earned every sip.

• DISTANCE: 85 km (50 mi)
• ELEVATION: 2500 m (8200 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
In 1946, Passo Falzarego was the setting of the first real showdown between cycling icons Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali marking the beginning of one of the greatest rivalries in cycling history.

DAY 7

After an unforgettable week of riding, it’s time to say goodbye.

But not for long: we have a feeling this is just the beginning of your journey with Vago. Thanks for riding with us and see you for your next adventure!

FAQs

Is this Veneto Bike Tour the best choice for our group?

We believe this tour is perfect for your group if:

  • You’re passionate riders craving challenging climbs and epic scenery

  • You want the perfect balance of hidden gems and iconic roads

  • You’re curious foodies eager to explore the flavors and wines of two rich culinary traditions

  • You love a good ride but also want to dive into local history and culture

How flexible is the itinerary on this Veneto Bike Tour?

Partially. During the first three days in the Prosecco Hills, there are plenty of route options to adjust daily distance and elevation. Once in the Dolomites, flat roads are no longer an option and climbs like Giau and Fedaia are seriously challenging.
That said, with our support on the road, you can push your limits safely, you can opt for an e-bike, or even take a day off and enjoy some relaxation or a stunning alpine hike.

Is this Veneto Bike tour suitable for a self-guided version?

Yes, with a few tweaks.
Day 4 includes a short van transfer from Valdobbiadene to Alleghe. To go self-guided, we can either provide that transfer or adapt the route to cover the distance by bike (though it involves some busy roads and at least one extra day of riding).
While riding with us brings extra value, if you opt for a self-guided version we’ll help you find the best solution.

What should I pack for this Veneto Bike Tour?

We send a detailed packing list before every tour.
In general: bring layers, light rain gear, cycling kit for all conditions, and a few comfortable outfits for dinners and cultural visits.

Can non-cyclists join this Veneto Bike Tour?

Absolutely!
Partners, friends, or family who don’t ride can enjoy daily excursions, cultural visits, great food, and moments to relax while the rest of the group is on the bike.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We control what we can, and adapt to what we can’t.
There’s always a Plan B: we might change timing, adjust the route, or swap the ride with a unique local experience.
