HEAR FROM OUR GUESTS

Well organised and friendly trip, most of all a lot of fun. Mattia, Toni and the team were super helpful to make all members of the group feel included, looked after, and left wanting for nothing — plus great homemade food to boot. Highly recommend!

HEAR FROM OUR GUESTS

The only honest feedback I can give you is that it was really an amazing experience. Routes were awesome, bikes just great. You couldn`t be more helpful with so many small things you facilitated with a smile in the face. We really hope to be back soon (maybe explore other regions in Italy!) and we are definitely recommending to Brazillian friends. Thanks once again!

HEAR FROM OUR GUESTS

We met good and professional people who made our riding week a great social experience.
If I was hesitant at first whether we need a guide – without a doubt the experience is completely different along with them. With us was Mattia who we will also be a very close friend.

HEAR FROM OUR GUESTS

As a cycling enthusiast, I cannot recommend this experience more! Mattia created and hosted an incredible tour that was complete with bike hire, navigation and guide, food and accommodation plus loads more. My only regret is that I didn’t stay longer – bucket list item for me that was ticked off in style!

HEAR FROM OUR GUESTS

Mattia did an amazing job organizing our rides in Bormio. We were a large group of 10 and he put together rides suitable for all. He arranged van transfers to shorten a ride to make it more suitable for our group and we were able to experience all the beauty of the area by bike. Iconic climbs broken up with coffee stops, laughter, and smiles. Highly recommended!

A SPECIAL MOMENT

One of the most beautiful roads in Italy, probably in the world, deserves to be experienced in perfect conditions. That’s why, on Stelvio day, we always encourage our guests to hit the road early, when the first light paints the peaks, there’s no traffic in sight and the only sound you hear is the whistle of marmots. It’s pure magic, and a memory you’ll carry with you long after the last switchback.

Day by day

DAY 1

Welcome to the Alps
Cyclists riding along the turquoise Cancano Lakes near Bormio surrounded by alpine peaks during the Epic Alps bike tour

Welcome to Bormio: our charming hometown at the heart of the Alps and gateway to some of the greatest climbs in Italy. Settle into your cozy hotel and put yourself at ease. When ready hit the road for a nice warm up ride on quiet backroads around the valley before climbing up to the enchanted Cancano Lakes. Enjoy an after ride aperitivo and a magnificent dinner in our favourite local restaurant… It’s just the beginning.

• DISTANCE: 40 km (25 mi)
• ELEVATION: 800 m (2600 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
Bormio is one of the few fully preserved medieval towns in the Alps, filled with hidden frescoes and ancient portals at every turn. Don’t miss the frescoed vaults of the small Church of the Holy Spirit (15th–16th centuries) or the medieval civic tower in Piazza del Kuerc, whose clock and coats of arms still guard the town centre

DAY 2

Stelvio Pass, The King of the Alps
Cyclists climbing the Stelvio Pass with alpine cows grazing on green pastures and dramatic mountain scenery in the background

Stelvio Pass, the highest paved road in Italy and a true cycling icon, is calling. Today we’ll tackle both sides of this legendary climb in a spectacular loop of endless switchbacks, breathtaking views and pure satisfaction.
It’s a ride you’ll never forget. Savour every moment and get ready to raise a glass at dinner: you’ve earned it.

• DISTANCE: 100 km (60 mi)
• ELEVATION: 3000 m (10000 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
The Dreisprachenspitze, or “Three Languages Peak,” is the landmark at the top of the Stelvio Pass. Until the Treaty of Saint-Germain in 1920 ceded South Tyrol to Italy, this spot marked the border triangle between Italy, Austria and Switzerland. Even today, three languages meet here: Italian, German and Romansh.

Day 3

Gavia
Cycling group celebrating at the top of Passo Gavia near Rifugio Bonetta after a challenging ride in the Italian Alps

Another day, another legend. Today it’s the mighty Passo Gavia, one of the Giro d’Italia’s most dramatic and unforgettable climbs.
The road winds higher and higher, cutting through rugged slopes and snow-capped ridges, opening up to that raw, almost lunar beauty that makes the Gavia feel like another world.
Take it steady, find your rhythm, and let the silence and vastness of these peaks carry you to the top. Back in Bormio, reward yourself with a well-earned soak in the ancient Roman baths. Your legs will thank you.

• DISTANCE: 50 km (30 mi)
• ELEVATION: 1400 m (4600 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
Before becoming a cycling legend, the Gavia was a military road built during WWI to connect the remote valleys of Bormio and Ponte di Legno. Even today, you can spot old bunkers and traces of trenches along its rugged slopes.

DAY 4

Mortirolo
Cyclist climbing Passo Mortirolo in Valtellina with a local farmer in the background and mountain views all around

Another day, another climb: the mighty Mortirolo. With its punishing 10.5% average gradient, this 12 km ascent is rightfully known as one of the toughest in the Giro d’Italia; a true test for any cyclist’s legs and mind.
Take your time, find your rhythm and soak in the satisfaction of conquering this iconic pass.
Back in Bormio, we’ll celebrate this hard-earned victory and the end of an unforgettable cycling adventure with one last feast at the dinner table. What a ride it’s been. Well done!

• DISTANCE: 75 km (45 mi)
• ELEVATION: 2000 m (6500 ft)

TODAY’S TRIVIA
In 2006, a steel sculpture of Marco Pantani in his classic attack position was erected at hairpin 11, the very spot where the Pirata first made his legendary breakthrough in 1994.

DAY 5

Arrivederci
Cycling group posing together in Bormio with alpine mountains in the background during the Epic Alps bike tour

After an unforgettable week of riding, it’s time to say goodbye.

But not for long: we have a feeling this is just the beginning of your journey with Vago. Thanks for riding with us and see you for your next adventure!

Inside the historic Braulio cellars in Bormio with large oak barrels used for aging the famous alpine amaro

The Braulio Cellar

A REAL GEM

Hidden beneath Via Roma, the old street in the center of Bormio, lies a place as layered and complex as the mountains above it: the Braulio Cellar.
This iconic alpine amaro was first created in 1875 by pharmacist Giuseppe Peloni, blending local herbs and botanicals. More than a century later, the recipe remains unchanged — and still a closely guarded secret. Even better? It’s still produced and aged right here, in the original Bormio cellar: a magical space that smells of wood, herbs, and history.

A visit to the cellar takes you through the story of Braulio, from its humble origins to the present day, showing how tradition, vision, and family values combined to create a true Italian classic.
Salute!
