When, back in January 2020, Marta and I told friends and family that our honeymoon would be a bikepacking trip to Cuba, with 1-year-old Anita in the bike trailer, the reaction we got from most of them was: “But… what if something happens?”

Now, if you think about it, the question makes a lot of sense. But at the same time… it kind of doesn’t. I mean; when does something not happen? What does “something happens” even mean?

I don’t mean to be naive. Dealing with any possible problem while bikepacking through Cuba is definitely harder than from the comfort of our living room.

But… what’s the cost of comfort?

What actually happened was that we had an amazing adventure. Then, just a few weeks after we returned home, Covid hit, the world shut down and Vago, which we had just launched, was completely disrupted.

I truly believe the energy we got from that Cuba trip carried us through a couple of very hard years. As a family. As individuals. And as a business.

Because yes, bad things can happen.
But in the end, the worst thing that can happen is waking up one day and realizing we watched life pass by and so many great things never happened because we were too scared and too busy asking ourselves:

“What if something happens?”
