HISTORY
A powerful empire
Since the establishment of the Republic of Venice in the 7th century, the Veneto region flourished, becoming a powerful empire known for trade and cultural achievements and a center for art and architecture. After falling to Napoleon in 1797, the region endured a series of foreign occupations and was eventually annexed by the Austrian Empire. During World War I, Veneto was a frontline region, and in World War II, it faced significant bombings and occupation.
CYCLING
Italian Cycling
at its finest
With its great variety of terrain and a rich cycling culture, this is the birthplace of Pinarello bikes, the Veneto region is the perfect destination for every cycling enthusiast.
Rolling hills covered by vineyards gradually leave place to more dramatic mountain landscapes moving towards the Grappa massif and the mighty Dolomites. Coffee stops in beautiful hamlets such as Asolo, Vittorio Veneto and Bassano del Grappa are moments of pure joy and a perfect chance to merge in the local culture.
EAT AND DRINK
A rich
culinary heritage
Typical dishes include bigoli in salsa (thick spaghetti with sardines and onions), risotto al tastasal (risotto with seasoned pork), baccalà alla vicentina (cod in the Vicenzian style), and polenta served with various toppings. Local cheeses such as Asiago and Morlacco del Grappa enhance any meal and pair wonderfully with regional wines. The area is primarily renowned for its sparkling Prosecco, but it also boasts robust red wines like Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Tiramisu, the most beloved Italian dessert, originated in Treviso and serves as the perfect conclusion to a delightful meal.
